Rona Stern

Bio
       Contact

Rona Stern, born in 1984 in Tel Aviv, is an artist based in Berlin. Her artistic endeavors focus on tracing the imagery found in everyday life, the decorative elements, historical references, and the abundance of commercial symbols, all of which saturate our public spaces.
Through her installations, Stern employs the syntax of marketing and commercial language, reshaping these images and reconstructing the realm of the spectacular that is consumed by the masses. By doing so, she dismantles the familiar and reinvents the monumental, offering viewers a fresh perspective on the imagery that surrounds them.

Stern graduated as a Meisterschüler (post-graduate studies) from HGB, Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, Germany, with the support of a 2-year DAAD German Academic Exchange Service scholarship. She holds a B.Ed. in Fine Arts from Hamidrasha School of Art, Beit Berl (2011), where she graduated with honors.
Stern has been invited to participate in multiple international artist-in-residence programs, including Tobacna 001 Culture Center in Ljubljana, Slovenia (2018); Meet Factory in Prague, Czech Republic (2017); Yarat Contemporary Art Space in Baku, Azerbaijan (2017); and Artist Unlimited in Bielefeld, Germany (2017). She is currently working on her first novel.
